🍪 Hungarian Cookies (Traditional Keksz)


🧁 Classic Hungarian Linzer Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, room temp

  • 2/3 cup (80g) powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Apricot or raspberry jam for filling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Cream the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Mix in the egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon zest.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into rounds (cut a hole in the center of half for the tops).
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes or until lightly golden.
  7. Let cool, then sandwich with jam and dust with powdered sugar.
