Making cheese at home is surprisingly easy and fun! With just milk and vinegar

Making cheese at home is surprisingly easy and fun! With just milk and vinegar, you can create a delicious homemade cheese that’s perfect for snacking or cooking. Here’s a simple recipe to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 liter (4 cups) whole milk (preferably full-fat for the best texture and flavor)
  • 2-3 tablespoons white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional, for flavor)

Instructions:

1. Heat the Milk:

  1. Pour the milk into a heavy-bottomed pot.
  2. Heat it over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent it from scorching, until it reaches about 80°C to 90°C (176°F to 194°F). If you don’t have a thermometer, heat it until it starts to steam and tiny bubbles form around the edges (just before boiling).

2. Add the Vinegar:

  1. Remove the pot from the heat.
  2. Stir in the vinegar (or lemon juice), 1 tablespoon at a time, and gently mix. You’ll notice the milk curdling almost immediately, forming small white curds and separating from the yellowish liquid (whey). If it doesn’t curdle fully, add a little more vinegar.
