For the Sponge Cake:

  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup (150g) sugar
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder (for chocolate layer)
  • ½ cup (50g) ground walnuts (for walnut layer)

For the Syrup:

  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • ½ cup (100g) sugar
  • 1 tsp rum or vanilla extract

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup (75g) raisins, soaked in rum
  • ¾ cup (75g) ground walnuts

For the Chocolate Sauce:

  • ¾ cup (180ml) milk
  • 4 oz (100g) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

For Serving:

  • Whipped cream
