Directions
Prepare the Batter:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
Form the Fritters:
Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Shape each fritter slightly with the back of a spoon.
Bake:
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the fritters to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Glaze:
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. Add more milk if needed to reach the desired consistency.
Glaze the Fritters:
Drizzle or dip the cooled fritters in the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Let the glaze set before serving.
