Baked French Dip Biscuits

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Biscuits:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking dish or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the milk and stir gently until the dough comes together (be careful not to overmix!).
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it just a few times to bring it together.
  6. Pat the dough into a rectangle, about 1-inch thick. Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking dish or sheet.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.

2. Prepare the French Dip Filling:

  1. While the biscuits are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onion and cook for 4-5 minutes, until softened and lightly caramelized.
  3. Add the sliced roast beef to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes, just until heated through. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth, letting it simmer for another 2 minutes to combine the flavors.

3. Assemble the Biscuits:

  1. Once the biscuits are baked, cut them in half horizontally.
  2. On the bottom half of each biscuit, layer a generous amount of the beef and onion mixture.
  3. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and place the top of the biscuit back on.
  4. For extra cheesy goodness, you can add more cheese on top of the biscuit and return it to the oven for a couple of minutes until the cheese is melted.

4. Serve:

  1. Serve your baked French dip biscuits hot, with a small bowl of beef broth on the side for dipping.

Tips:

  • Beef Variations: You can use any leftover roast beef or even deli-sliced beef for this recipe.
  • Add More Veggies: If you love mushrooms, you can sauté some mushrooms with the onions for an extra boost of flavor!
  • Make It Extra Savory: Add a touch of Dijon mustard to the filling for a bit of tang.

These Baked French Dip Biscuits are perfect for a cozy meal, and I can totally see why they disappear fast once they’re on the table! 😊 Enjoy every bite!
