Instructions:

1. Make the Meatballs:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all the meatball ingredients. Mix well until fully combined.
  • Roll the mixture into 1- to 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are browned and cooked through.

2. Assemble the Casserole:

  • Reduce the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce evenly at the bottom of a casserole dish.
  • Arrange the baked meatballs on top of the sauce.
  • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the top.

3. Bake the Casserole:

  • Cover the casserole dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

4. Serve:

  • Let the casserole cool slightly, garnish with fresh basil if desired, and serve with garlic bread or a side salad.
