Baked Meatball Pasta Casserole Recipe

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meatballs

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan, parsley, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs (about 1-inch in diameter).
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides. They do not need to cook through fully. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Pasta

  1. Boil the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In the same skillet used for the meatballs, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  2. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute to create a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the broth and cream, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Add garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.

Step 4: Assemble the Casserole

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with half of the sauce.
  2. Pour the pasta into a greased baking dish. Top with the browned meatballs.
  3. Pour the remaining sauce evenly over the meatballs and pasta.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and the sauce is bubbling.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  1. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy!
