Baked Meatball Pasta Casserole

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until combined.
    • Roll into small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) and set aside.
    • In a skillet, cook the meatballs over medium heat until browned on all sides (they don’t need to be fully cooked as they will bake later).
  3. Cook the Pasta:
    • Boil pasta in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a large saucepan, heat marinara sauce over medium heat.
    • Stir in heavy cream (if using) for a creamier texture. Mix the cooked pasta with the sauce.
  5. Assemble the Casserole:
    • Pour half of the pasta and sauce mixture into the prepared baking dish.
    • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
    • Add the remaining pasta and spread evenly. Place the browned meatballs on top of the pasta.
  6. Add Cheese and Bake:
    • Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the dish.
    • Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm. Pair with garlic bread and a green salad for a complete meal.
