Cheesy Bacon Puff Pastry Tarts

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the puff pastry:

  1. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 6–8 equal squares or circles, depending on your desired shape.
  2. Place the pastry pieces on the prepared baking sheet.

3. Create the tart base:

  1. Use a knife to lightly score a border (about 1/4 inch) around the edges of each pastry piece. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
  2. Prick the center of each pastry with a fork to prevent it from puffing too much.

4. Mix the cheese filling:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheese, and garlic powder.
  2. Spread a spoonful of the mixture onto the center of each pastry, staying within the scored border.

5. Add the bacon:

  • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the cheese mixture.

6. Apply the egg wash:

  • Beat the egg with a splash of water, then brush it over the edges of the puff pastry to give it a golden finish when baked.

7. Bake the tarts:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.

8. Garnish and serve:

  • Remove the tarts from the oven and let them cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired, and serve warm.
