- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the Meatloaf Base:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, egg, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Press the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake the Meatloaf:
- Bake the meatloaf for 20 minutes, then remove it from the oven.
- Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
- While the meatloaf is baking, mash the cooked potatoes in a large bowl. Add the sour cream, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until creamy.
- Assemble the Casserole:
- Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the partially cooked meatloaf.
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake Again:
- Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add the Toppings:
- Sprinkle the cooked bacon and green onions (or parsley) over the top of the casserole.
- Serve:
