Step 1: Prepare the Crust
The crust of this cheesecake is made from crushed graham crackers, sugar, and melted butter. It provides a sweet, crunchy contrast to the creamy filling and is the perfect base for the dessert.
- Crush the graham crackers:
If you don’t have graham cracker crumbs, you can crush whole graham crackers by placing them in a food processor and pulsing until you get fine crumbs. Alternatively, place the crackers in a plastic ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin. - Mix the crust ingredients:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Stir until everything is evenly mixed, and the mixture starts to hold together when pressed. - Press the mixture into the pan:
Pour the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Use the back of a spoon or your fingers to press the crumbs down evenly. Make sure the crust is firm and compact, covering the entire bottom of the pan. - Bake the crust:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Place the pan in the oven and bake the crust for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool while you prepare the cheesecake filling.
