Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth any creases. Cut it into 6 equal rectangles or squares.
- Prepare the Apple Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, toss the apple slices with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and brown sugar (if using). Make sure the slices are evenly coated.
- Assemble the Pastries:
- Place a few apple slices in the center of each puff pastry rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Fold the edges slightly over the apples or keep them flat for an open-faced look.
- Brush and Sprinkle:
- Brush the edges of the pastries with the beaten egg to help them brown beautifully. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of extra sugar over the edges for extra crunch.
- Bake:
- Transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden and puffed, and the apples are tender.
- Glaze (Optional):
- While still warm, drizzle the pastries with honey or maple syrup for a glossy finish.
- Serve:
- Let the pastries cool slightly before dusting them with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature with coffee, tea, or vanilla ice cream for a special treat!
Tips:
- Add chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans) or raisins for extra texture and flavor.
- For a caramel twist, drizzle caramel sauce over the pastries before serving.
- Use store-bought pie crust as a substitute if puff pastry isn’t available.
