  • 1 ¼ cups (150g) ground poppy seeds
  • ½ cup (100g) sugar
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

For the Apple Filling:

  • 3 apples, peeled and grated
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

For the Plum Jam Layer:

  • ¾ cup (200g) thick plum jam

For Brushing:

  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1️⃣ Make the Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add cold butter and rub it into the flour until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the egg and white wine, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Divide into 4 equal pieces, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.

2️⃣ Prepare the Fillings:

  1. Walnut filling: Heat milk and sugar in a pan, then add walnuts and vanilla. Cook for 2 minutes, then cool.
  2. Poppy seed filling: Heat milk, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest, then add poppy seeds. Stir and cool.
  3. Apple filling: Sauté apples, sugar, and cinnamon for a few minutes until softened.

3️⃣ Assemble the Layers:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out one dough piece and place in a parchment-lined baking dish.
  3. Spread poppy seed filling, then add another rolled dough layer.
  4. Spread apple filling, then add another rolled dough layer.
  5. Spread walnut filling, then add the final rolled dough layer.
  6. Spread plum jam evenly on top.
  7. Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.

4️⃣ Bake & Serve:

  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Let cool completely before slicing.
