Hungarian Goulash🇭🇺.

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Sauté the onions in lard or oil until soft and lightly golden.
  2. Remove from heat briefly and stir in the paprika (this keeps it from burning and turning bitter).
  3. Add beef cubes and stir well to coat with paprika and onions.
  4. Cook the meat until browned, about 10 minutes. Stir in garlic, caraway seeds, and tomatoes/paste.
  5. Pour in broth or water just enough to cover the meat. Simmer on low for about 45 minutes, until beef is getting tender.
  6. Add carrots, parsnip, and pepper. Continue to simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Add potatoes and a bit more broth if needed. Simmer until everything is soft and flavors are blended, about 25 minutes.
  8. Season with salt & pepper. Serve hot, topped with fresh parsley.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with csipetke (Hungarian pinched noodles), crusty bread, or even over nokedli.
  • Pairs wonderfully with a glass of Egri Bikavér (Bull’s Blood wine).
