
Instructions
1. Prepare the Meat
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in the ground pork, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and caraway seeds. Stir well and remove from heat.
2. Prepare the Sauerkraut
- If your sauerkraut is too sour, rinse it under cold water and drain well.
3. Make the Sour Cream Mixture
- In a bowl, whisk together sour cream, egg, milk, and flour until smooth.
4. Assemble the Layers
- First layer: Spread half of the sauerkraut in a greased baking dish.
- Second layer: Add half of the cooked rice.
- Third layer: Spread half of the cooked ground meat.
- Fourth layer: Add half of the smoked sausage slices.
- Repeat all layers, finishing with sauerkraut on top.
- Pour the sour cream mixture evenly over everything.
5. Bake
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve hot with fresh bread or pickles on the side.
- Enjoy with extra sour cream on top!
