
👨🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the soft butter, egg, sour cream, and activated yeast mixture.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes). If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
- Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
2️⃣ Shape the Pogácsa
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about ½ inch (1.5 cm) thickness.
- Use a knife or a round cookie cutter to cut out small circles or squares.
- Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with the egg yolk and sprinkle with grated cheese.
3️⃣ Bake the Pogácsa
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
4️⃣ Serve & Enjoy!
- Serve warm with butter, sour cream, or even a cup of tea or wine.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
