Instructions:
- Activate the yeast:
- In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix the dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, milk, and oil. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough:
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. (If you’re short on time, mix well for a minute – the recipe is forgiving!)
- Shape and let rise:
- Divide the dough into two equal parts. Shape each into a loaf and place in greased loaf pans or on a baking sheet. Cover with a clean towel and let rise in a warm place for 20–30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the loaves for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and they sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Cool and enjoy:
- Remove the bread from the pans and let cool on a wire rack. Slice and serve fresh!
Tips:
- For a softer crust, brush the tops with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Add a handful of seeds, herbs, or grated cheese to the dough for extra flavor.
- This bread freezes well—wrap in plastic and store for up to a month!
Enjoy warm, fresh bread that’s ready faster than a trip to the store! 🍞✨
